Italian President Sergio Mattarella in his remarks broadcasted on Italian television expressed his country's full support for Ukraine in its resistance against Russia.
Mattarella welcomed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to the country, noting that Italy stands fully by Kiev's side. Mattarella also acknowledged the changed circumstances since the two leaders last spoke about the conflict.
During his Rome trip, Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Giorgia Meloni as well as Pope Francis.
