Italy's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.7% in May on a yearly basis, according to a preliminary report by Istat on Friday. The reading matched forecasts.
The annual drop was mainly due to changes in regulated energy products, which fell to 29,1%; unregulated energy products, which declined to negative 4.3%, transport services, which decreased to 2.6%, and unprocessed food, which decreased to 2.6%. On the opposite spectrum, processed food jumped to 3.2% while durable goods changed from negative 1.4% to negative 0.8%.
The Consumer Price Index remained unchanged month over month.
