Italy's trade surplus at €4.5 billion in February

Italy's trade surplus stood at €4.5 billion in February, up from a deficit of €264 million registered in January, the country's National Institute of Statistics (Istat) revealed in a report on Friday.

Month on month, exports jumped 3.5%, while imports increased 1.7%. Exports to the European Union countries were up by 3.7%, and to the non-EU countries by 3.2%. Meanwhile, imports from the EU and non-EU countries grew 2.4% and 0.8%, respectively.

There was a trade deficit of €361 million for the EU and a trade surplus of €4.8 billion for the non-EU countries. Import prices in February gained 0.6% compared to the previous month.
