Support for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's cabinet sank to a new low of 25%, according to the latest survey conducted by Nikkei Asia.
The cabinet's approval rating shrank three points from May to stand at 25% according to a survey conducted from Friday to Sunday. Disapproval remained at 67%, the same as the survey conducted in May. Out of those not supporting the cabinet, 40% claimed that they were not content with how the government is being managed, followed by 39% who cited "poor policies" and 39% who claimed there is a "lack of leadership." Supporters said that their stance stems from the "Liberal Democratic Party-centered cabinet" at 29%, while 25% cited Kishida's "trustworthy personality" and 21% "his international awareness."
"Price measures" came in as the policy issue that respondents thought Kishida needs to make a priority, at 36%. The survey drew 838 respondents, with a response rate of 40.2%.
