Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Wednesday his government will mobilize all available measures to prepare the economic environment for increasing minimum wages above ¥1,000 per hour (~$7.5).
Commenting on the economy, Kishida stressed that this spring will mark a turning point for growth and wealth distribution across Japan. The current minimum wage stands at ¥961 an hour, meaning the lowest-paid Japanese workers will see a wage increase of at least 4% starting in April.
