Consumer prices in Japan ended slightly above analysts' projections in August, with the headline index rising by 3.0% on a yearly basis to stand at 102.7, according to a report released by the Statistics Bureau of Japan on Tuesday.
The main inflation figure marks an increase when compared to the CPI of 2.6% registered in July.
Additional data for the month of August showed that consumer prices excluding fresh food and energy went up by 1.6% year-on-year, and added 0.2% month-on-month, while the same index excluding only fresh food improved by 2.8% on a yearly and 0.4% on a monthly basis.
