Japan's trade deficit in September stood at ¥294.3 billion, improving from a deficit of ¥695.3 billion reported in August, according to the Japanese Ministry of Finance report released on Thursday.
Exports dropped by 1.7% year-on-year to ¥9 trillion, while imports grew by 2.1% to ¥9.3 trillion.
Exports and imports to China fell by 7.3% and 1.9%, respectively, while exports to the United States declined by 2.4% and imports to the US rose by 6.8%.
