Japan's international trade recorded a deficit of ¥78.7 billion ($538 million) in July, the Ministry of Finance said in a report on Thursday. The country saw a trade surplus of ¥43 billion in June. However, compared to July 2022, the trade deficit decreased by 94.5%.
Exports were down 0.3% on a yearly basis, reaching ¥8.7 trillion. Imports dropped 13.5% year-on-year to ¥8.8 billion. Exports to China decreased 13.4% from July 2022, while imports fell by 13.9%. Exports to the United States rose by 13.5% annually, and imports declined by 11.2%.
