Japan's unemployment rate landed at 2.5% in December on a monthly seasonally adjusted basis, according to a report by the nation's Statistics Bureau, released on Tuesday.

The figure went slightly below expectations and remained unchanged when compared to the jobless rate seen in November.

The ratio of job openings to applicants also stayed at 1.35, the same as it was the month before, to mark a sustained availability in jobs per applicant.
