Japan's seasonally adjusted Consumer Confidence Index increased in May when compared to the figure seen the previous month, rising by 1.1 points to land at 34.1, according to a report released on Tuesday by the country's Cabinet Office.
The overall livelihood index increased by 1.2 points from the previous month to reach 32.4, while the employment index marked a 2.9-point improvement, ending at 39.0. The income growth indicator increased by 0.4 points in the meantime to stand at 37.2, with the willingness to buy durable goods adding 0.2 to land at 27.9.
The percentage of survey respondents who revealed they expect the prices to rise in the upcoming year increased by 0.7% in April, while 1.5% of survey respondents saw the prices going down, shrinking by 0.6% from the previous month, while 0.2% fewer survey respondents claimed they see the prices remaining at the same level.
