Green Party’s presidential candidate Jill Stein intends to request a vote recount in Wisconsin by the end of the day, her spokesperson confirmed on Friday.
Stein began fundraising to finance vote recounts in three swing states won by Republican Donald Trump earlier in the week. The Green Party’s aim was to challenge results of votes in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
David Cobb, Stein’s campaign manager, stated that $1 million was necessary in order to file requests for recounts and to cover attorney’s fees in Wisconsin, while for Michigan and Pennsylvania the campaign needed $600,000 and %500,000 respectively. So far, over $5 million have been raised in the effort.
The deadline to file for a recount is 11 p.m. CET and Stein’s spokesperson said they will announce the filing as soon as it happens.
