British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday said the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest should be held in Ukraine despite the country's ongoing conflict with Russia.
"Of course, I would love it to be in this country but the fact is they won and they deserve to have it and I believe they can have it and I believe that they should have it," said the prime minister. "I believe that Kiev or any other safe Ukrainian city would be a fantastic place to have it," he added.
Johnson's comments come after the European Broadcasting Union asked the BBC to organize the event after concluding that it would be impossible to provide the security guarantees required to hold the contest in Ukraine.
