Former United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote a statement following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the country's longest-reigning monarch, expressing his grief and his admiration for Her Majesty, and referring to this day as ''the saddest'' one, as Her Majesty ''had a unique and simple power to make us happy.''
He pointed out the ''vital role she played, selflessly and calmly embodying the continuity and unity of our country.''
He concluded by saying that one of her best achievements was ''producing an heir to the throne who will amply do justice to her legacy, and whose own sense of duty is in the best traditions of his mother and the country.''
