Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggested on Wednesday that frozen Russian assets should be allocated to support Ukraine and reimburse the United States for its assistance.
"In particular the US can see $300bn of frozen Russian assets - mainly in Belgium," the former prime minister said. "Why is Europe preventing the unfreezing of Putin's cash? The US believes Belgium, France, and other countries are blocking. It's absurd. We need to get serious and fast," Johnson wrote in a statement in a statement on X. "Trump's statements are not intended to be historically accurate but to shock Europeans into action," he added.
Johnson also defended Ukraine's position in the conflict, noting that Kiev did not start the war, and argued that general elections should not take place while a nation is "undergoing a violent invasion," citing the example of Britain, which did not hold elections between 1935 and 1945.
