Judge orders Voice of America staff reinstated

EPA-EFE/SHAWN THEW

A United States federal judge has temporarily stopped President Donald Trump's administration from cutting operations at Voice of America (VOA) and related outlets, according to the Associated Press.

Judge Royce Lamberth ordered that staff and contractors return to their roles before a March 14 executive order suspended their work. The ruling also covers Radio Free Asia and Middle East Broadcasting Networks.

The order follows claims that nearly all 1,300 Voice of America employees were put on leave and about 500 contractors faced termination.
