The economic activity improved in September compared to the figure registered in the previous month with its economic barometer, a domestic forward-looking indicator, increasing by 0.5 points to 105.5, the KOF Swiss Economic Institute revealed in the report on Monday.
The positive trajectory was primarily driven by the manufacturing industry and, to a lesser extent, the financial and insurance services and the construction industry. The prospects for the hospitality industry and the consumer demand were almost unchanged, indicating a "rather above-average further development." On the other hand, prospects for foreign demand deteriorated.
Within the manufacturing sector, chemical and pharmaceutical companies and the metal industry are expected to improve. However, the electrical industry and the textile and clothing segment are expected to weaken.
