European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas confirmed on Monday that the European Union's sanctions against Russia will be extended for six months.
In a post on her X account, Kallas announced that the foreign ministers reached an agreement on an extension, reiterating that the move would work to "deprive" Moscow of means to finance the war. "Russia needs to pay for the damage they are causing," she concluded. The decision will now be forwarded to the EU Council for final adoption.
Earlier in the day, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto revealed that the EC had requested Kiev to provide assurances that it will continue oil supplies to the EU.
