Kerry: Trump left Paris Agreement without rationale

United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry accused former President Donald Trump of pulling out of the Paris Agreement without any scientific reason and noted the administration of Joe Biden had to restore America's credibility and return to the climate deal.

"Regrettably, without any facts, without any science, without any rationale that would be considered reasonable, the former president decided to pull out," Kerry stated during a White House press briefing.

Kerry praised global leaders, including China's Xi Jinping, Russia's Vladimir Putin, Germany's Angela Merkel and France's Emmanuel Macron, for taking part in the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate organized by Biden. The US climate envoy added that, today, world leaders built a "huge foundation" but that the next six months of diplomacy will be "absolutely critical" in tackling the climate crisis.
