The Public Council of the Kherson region addressed the region's head, Vladimir Saldo, on Tuesday with an initiative to hold a referendum that would lead to Kherson becoming a part of Russia. Saldo answered, saying he believes it will be held very soon, RIA Novosti reported.
The region is located in the southern part of Ukraine in close proximity to Crimea and has been followed by somewhat contrasting statements by the two sides of the war as the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) claimed the region is in full control of Russian forces, while the Ukrainian president ordered the creation of 15 new military administrations in it. The news comes after the DPR and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) yesterday made similar announcements, adding they will be jointly preparing for referendums with the goal of entering Russia.
