North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said on Saturday that his country must improve its defense capabilities "as soon as possible," Yonhap reported, citing North Korean state media. At his party's Central Committee meeting, he warned the security challenges faced by North Korea are "very serious."
According to state media, Kim laid out "the militant tasks to be pushed forward by the armed forces of the Republic and the national defense research sector." North Korea has recently carried out a number of ballistic missile launches and it is rumored that it could test nuclear weapons.
