King Charles III addressed the nation for the first time on Friday following Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's death, expressing his deep sadness for the great loss, and thanking Her Majesty for her love, guidance, and, most importantly, devoted service throughout all the years, which brought great prosperity to her people.
''I pay tribute to my mother's memory and I honor her life of service,'' the King said, adding he now pledges to serve the country and the global community with ''loyalty, respect and love.''
The King announced Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, will become Prince of Wales, while also praising his wife, Queen Consort, for her steadfast devotion he has relied on throughout the years. In the end, the King expressed his love for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ''as they continue to build their lives overseas.''
