United States National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby revealed on Tuesday that there has been no breakthrough in negotiations with Iran concerning the nuclear agreement, underscoring that no progress is expected in the near future.
"It is not our focus right now," Kirby told reporters in a telephone call, adding that Washington does not see "the deal coming together soon" owing to Tehran's supply of drones to Russia and human violations in Iran. The comments came after a video from November surfaced that showed United States President Joe Biden calling the 2015 nuclear deal "dead."
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed Tehran's readiness to conclude negotiations following the meeting with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Jordan.
