United States National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said during a press conference on Thursday, commenting on a possible Gaza deal, that "we're optimistic that we'll still be able to get a deal in place."
Commenting on the negotiations between Israel and Hamas, he noted that "nothing's done until everything's done" as they are still ongoing, expressing hope that the new deal "will allow for more aid to get in and allow for our maximum number of hostages to get out."
Kirby noted that the White House hasn't seen any "planning that tells us an operation or a major ground operation around Rafah" will happen as "more than a million folks have been displaced out there and any such plan would have to include a responsible military plan."
