Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday said his government will make a decision on who the next central bank governor will be while keeping an eye on any changes to economic trends. He added that Tokyo will pick Governor Haruhiko Kuroda's successor based on the candidate's aptitudes at the end of Kuroda's term, which won't be until April 8.

Talking about specific policy tools, the prime minister noted that it is up to the Bank of Japan (BoJ) to make decisions on rates, yield curve control as well as ETF buying.
