Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Friday that United States Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff has arrived in Russia.

Speaking at a press conference, Peskov added that his department will let the public know later if Witkoff will have a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The news came amid the US and Russia's renewed diplomatic contacts, dedicated mostly to finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier this week, the countries' delegations had a summit in Istanbul to discuss the work of their embassies in each other's territories.
