Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on Wednesday on reports that Syrian authorities requested the extradition of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who fled to Russia last year when his regime was overthrown. Peskov also refused to confirm allegations from Syrian media that Syria is asking Russia for compensation to "restore trust" after Russia supported the repressive Assad government.
Peskov commented on the resignation of Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic on Tuesday, hoping that Serbia can "resolve all problems as soon as possible and return to calm, orderly development." He said the Serbian government has not appealed to Moscow for help with widespread protests in the country, stating that the Serbian leadership is "capable of dealing with its own problems."
