Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday that there are no plans to hold a trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the informal meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which will be held in Saint Petersburg later in the day and on December 27.
"No, there will be no trilateral meeting, but bilateral contacts, of course, will take place on the sidelines of this informal meeting," Peskov told reporters at a press conference.
Earlier this month, there was an attempt to organize a meeting between the representatives of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia to discuss the tensions between the latter two countries. However, Yerevan's officials did not show up at the summit, to Moscow's chief diplomat Sergey Lavrov's disappointment.
