Kremlin: Penalty service to probe Navalny's death

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Friday that the Federal Penalty Service (FSIN) is "engaged in all necessary checks and inquiries" in connection with the death of Alexey Navalny, adding that no additional instructions are required.

According to him, the cause of death should be clarified by medics. He also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been informed of Navalny's death.

Earlier, the Penalty Service announced that Alexey Navalny died in penal colony No. 3 in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug after "feeling bad and losing consciousness."
