Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump share the view that avoiding diplomatic dialogue makes no sense, according to Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov's statements to Le Point magazine of France.

"In some areas their positions are close, but this does not mean that they agree on everything. Each of them defends, first and foremost, the interests of their country. What unites them is that they both understand the absurdity of refusing dialogue," Peskov said on Wednesday.

Peskov noted that Russia will pursue its objectives through "peaceful or military means," while emphasizing that Europe seeks conflict rather than talks, and currently shares no common ground with Russia. "We won't force them to negotiate," he clarified.
