Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on Tuesday that Finland will likely join NATO before his country, as Turkey still refuses to ratify its application citing Sweden's tolerance to organizations marked as terrorist groups by Ankara.
However, Kristersson noted that it is just a matter of time before Sweden also becomes a full-fledged member of the western military alliance. The prime minister's statement comes after Finland and Sweden resumed talks in Brussels on their NATO bid last week.
The two countries formally applied to join NATO in May last year. Next to Turkey, Hungary has also to authorize their application in the parliament. However, Hungary repeatedly confirmed support for their NATO accession.
