Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda stated on Tuesday that it is too early for the BoJ to discuss abandoning its highly accommodative monetary policy stance.
According to Kuroda, a sustainable inflation target has not yet been met, and thus it is premature to consider such an exit. He added that more time is needed to hit this target in a "stable" and "sustainable" way.
Kuroda's term as BoJ chief ended on April 8, but incoming Governor Kazuo Ueda is not expected to deviate significantly from his monetary policy stance.
