LG to invest over $4.5B in US battery production

LG Chem Ltd.'s Energy Solution subsidiary is planning to invest over $4.5 billion into battery production in the United States over the next five years, media reported on Thursday.

"We are eager to expand our production capacity so that it can meet the needs of the numerous global automakers across the US and Europe," senior executive Denise Gray told reporters.

The project is expected to create 4,000 jobs and increase the company's US battery production capacity by 70 gigawatt-hours.
