Lack of embargo on Russia energy disappoints - Ukraine

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk told ZDF, a German television broadcaster, on Friday that the lack of sanctions against Russian energy sources is disappointing.

The ambassador stated that although Ukraine is "grateful" that countries are implementing new sanctions against Russia, Kiev is not satisfied with the progress of discussions on a possible energy embargo.

Melnyk added that such sanctions are the "sharpest weapon" and that Ukraine knows Germany is working on putting "breaks" on the import of Russian energy. "I think anything else would really be a slap in the face to Ukraine," concluded the ambassador.
