European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde told the Financial Times in an interview she has every reason to believe that the central bank will hike its rates by 50 basis points at its next policy meeting in March.
Lagarde noted that the ECB will hike more if needed and that after March it will rely on data when making decisions on rates. The board is also prepared to do whatever is needed to return inflation to its 2% target, according to Lagarde.
