European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday that the ECB will definitely not cut interest rates at its next monetary policy meeting in September.
The central bank will be looking at either raising the rates or pausing rate hikes, but a potential pause "would not necessarily be for an extended period of time," she again clarified at a press conference. She further explained that the ECB determined that the transmission of monetary policy to financing in the Eurozone is evident, while the transmission from financing to the overall economy is beginning to show as well.
The ECB didn't discuss any further reduction of its balance sheet but the asset portfolio is nevertheless reducing, she added.
