European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde stated during a press conference on Thursday that the bank would not delay making "necessary decisions" until "each item in inflation" reaches 2%.
"The monetary policy that we have adopted so far has contributed to disinflation. We will be particularly attentive to the evolution of oil prices. We are observing a decline in inflation that's comforting us," she added.
Lagarde emphasized that the ECB anticipates a non-linear decline in inflation and pointed out that service inflation remains at "high levels."
