Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Cuba aims to develop ties with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with concrete cooperation plans to be discussed soon, following his meeting with Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel in Havana, TASS reported.
The EAEU, an economic union of five post-Soviet countries, will be briefed on plans concerning Cuba's involvement with the organization "soon," Lavrov said. "We will promote the further development of relations between Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union," he added.
"Cuba is interested in rapprochement with BRICS," Lavrov stated, adding that Russia will "actively contribute" to this effort.
