Lavrov to visit Tehran today for energy, transport talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Tehran on Tuesday for discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the visit on its official page.

The talks will focus on expanding trade and economic cooperation, particularly in energy and transport, following the recent upgrade of Russian-Iranian ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The ministers will also address key international issues, including developments in Syria, the South Caucasus, Afghanistan, Yemen, and the Persian Gulf. Additionally, they will discuss the Iranian nuclear deal, the Middle East peace process, and Caspian cooperation.

Lavrov's visit follows the signing of a new bilateral agreement in Moscow on January 17, underscoring both nations’ commitment to deepening their partnership.
