Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov remarked on Wednesday that the West and the Group of Seven (G7) see his country and China as "strategic adversaries" and an "existential threat" to their "dominance."
Speaking at the 11th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, hosted by the Russian Security Council in the Moscow region, Lavrov went on to accuse the United States of "purposefully" escalating the Taiwan crisis. He claimed the US is blackmailing other countries and installing satellites "not only in Europe but also in the Far East via its destructive schemes in the Asia-Pacific region."
Commenting on the conflict in Ukraine, Lavrov accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of trying to expand to the East and claimed such moves resemble "[Nazi Germany leader Adolf] Hitler's policy of Drang nach Osten [Drive to the East]."
