Former United States President Donald Trump's lawyer Joe Tacopina said on Friday that Trump will not take a plea deal following an indictment over a hush money payment in 2016. He said that he does not know how many counts or what the charges are and that the indictment should be unsealed "early next week, likely Tuesday."
"This was a personal resolution for a personal matter that would have been made irrespective of the campaign. So with those facts together, there is no crime," Tacopina told NBC News and suggested the indictment might not "make it to trial because we have substantial legal challenges." He confirmed that Trump will "not hole up in Mar-a-Lago" and that the details of his arraignment are being finalized.
