French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said on Friday in Washington, that Paris, Rome and Berlin are jointly making plans in order to block Facebook Inc.’s new cryptocurrency Libra on European soil.
On Thursday, Le Maire wrote in an article published by the Financial Times that Libra is a "usurper of the sovereign right of states to issue their own currencies, which will have dramatic and unforeseen repercussions."
Earlier this month, Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said he would propose new legislation on digital currencies such as Libra.
