Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam tasked the country's army with drafting a plan to centralize all weapons under state control by the end of the year, to be submitted to the government by August 31, amid US pressure to disarm Hezbollah.
The Cabinet will resume talks on the US proposal on Thursday after today's meeting, from which Hezbollah and Amals ministers withdrew.
"We have decided to continue the discussion on the document presented by the American side on Thursday, and to task the Lebanese army with developing a plan for the monopoly of weapons before the end of the year and submitting it to the Council of Ministers before the end of this month," Salam said after the meeting.
