Lebanese ministers cautioned on Thursday that the next 48 hours are critical and could bring further violence after the two days of attacks involving communication devices.
"It's definitely a very serious escalation. I don't see any act of escalation that will not lead to provocation, and that is what we fear most, because what happened yesterday will only trigger more escalation into the conflict," Lebanon's Minister of Economy Amin Salam told CNBC.
The American media also spoke to Health Minister Firas Abiad, who stated that the attacks were a shock to the country. He insisted that the government is not seeking a major conflict in the area but asserted that the last days' events are far from a diplomatic solution.
