Ferrari's Charles Leclerc secured his ninth pole position this Formula 1 season after qualifying first at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Red Bull's Sergio Perez came in second by a margin of 0.022 seconds, followed by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, who was 0.054 seconds behind Leclerc. Reining world champion Max Varstappen was bumped to eight place after being told to pit in the crucial moments of Q3, resulting in him abandoning his lap.
"It was a very tricky qualifying," Leclerc said after winning. "I thought we wouldn’t get pole but it paid off and I'm really happy."
