Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc won on Sunday Bahrain Grand Prix, the first race of the 2022 season. His teammate Carlos Sainz came in second, while Lewis Hamilton snatched third place for Mercedes.

The last ten laps of the race were marked by drama as Pierre Gasly's car caught fire, bringing on a safety car. Defending champion Max Verstappen was forced to retire only a few laps from the end due to technical issues, after which Sergio Perez lost control defending his third place from Hamilton and was knocked out of the race.
