Lee names deputy national security advisers

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung appointed new deputy national security advisers, his Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik announced on Sunday.

Those included retired General Kim Hyun-jong, former Ambassador to Canada Lim Woong-soon, and ex-envoy to the Vatican Oh Hyun-joo.

The naming came ahead of the Group of Seven's (G7) summit in Canada on June 15, 16, and 17. "President Lee said the upcoming G7 summit will mark the restoration of South Korea's summit diplomacy and negotiations for economic security," Kang stated.
