Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas (pictured) stated on Wednesday that his country's rapid reaction force has been put on high alert "to prevent any provocation from Russia." He added that the decision was taken as Russia's military mobilization "will also take place near our borders," in the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
Meanwhile, Latvia said it will consult with allies and partners on the new developments in the war in Ukraine "and discuss possible additional security measures in the region." Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics also announced that, due to security reasons, Latvia will not issue humanitarian or other visas to Russian citizens who avoid mobilization and it will keep its visa restrictions.
