Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko estimated on Friday the sanctions imposed against his country for its involvement in Russia's invasion of Ukraine are not easier to bear than the conflict in its neighbor's territory.
Following a two-hour phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Lukashenko said the war "began today" and "will end tomorrow." On the other hand, the consequences of the economic sanctions will remain "for a long time," he stressed.
In response to Belarus's alleged involvement in the clashes in Ukraine, the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom all introduced sanctions on that nation.
