Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin never set the goal to conquer Ukraine.
"All right, we conquered Ukraine, let's say Russia. What then? Always making a step, an intelligent, wise politician should think “and then what?" Lukashenko told Izvestia. According to him, Putin never had the intention of annexing Ukraine because in his opinion, occupying a country of its size would prove impossible in the long run.
Lukashenko also said there is no plan for Belarus and Russia to unite into one country, calling it "impossible" and unrealistic.
