Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov underlined on Thursday that Moscow is in "intensive consultations" with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the issue of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The deputy foreign minister revealed during the press briefing that the country is in favor of establishing a permanent IAEA mission to the nuclear power facility in order to monitor further developments in the area.
According to Ryabkov, another meeting between the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and the Russian delegation, led by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev were held in Istanbul to discuss the creation of nuclear safety protection zone and physical nuclear security of Europe's largest nuclear plant, following recent strikes by Ukraine's forces that have damaged critical infrastructure.
